As socialists we have known for sometime the way capitalists evade tax and make billions a year but tonight BBC panorama exposed some of the shadiest of dealings that goes on with the likes of Vodafone and Glaxo Smith Klein.
A special nod has to go to the PCS union who have been tirelessly campaigning against tax evasion for years now. Only now is it becoming a big big issue that polititians can no longer pretend doesn’t exist if nothing else they are forced to pay lip service to trying to tackle tax evasion by rich corporations.
The Tory party and even new labour would never seriously go after rich tax evaders as their interests lie with them they are and have been governments for the 1% the very wealthiest in society.
The BBC panorama episode if you can catch it is fascinating and is a real eye opener to the way the super rich capitalists work and get around their own influenced laws. As we all know the law is not neutral it is heavily stacked against workers and ordinary people if you tried to evade a bit of tax the tax man will come down on you like a tonne of bricks but if your Vodafone or Glaxo’s or the like different story entirely …
This programme showed that if these tax loop holes were properly closed and all the evaded tax properly collected there would be no need for any cuts at all to public services. But as we know this wont happen and we will be instead made to pay for a crisis in capitalism that is not of our making as ordinary working people.
An estimated 120 billion goes evaded every year by big rich corporations that would more than cover the entire deficit for this year and a little bit more. But who is putting this case forward? Only left unions with fighting traditions like the PCS and the RMT for as far as I can tell. The labour party which has no leg to stand on on this allowed this to go on on its watch too so they cannot be trusted to put forward a programme of nationalisation to bring these big corporations into public democratic ownership to prevent them evading tax and stashing millions and billions in offshore tax havens such as Luxembourg which was shown on tonight’s episode.
A true workers government would be looking to nationalise the commanding heights of the economy and gradually look to plan the economy by using the profits from these big multi nationals which will mean other nations having to follow a similar idea to close of loop holes which means capital can be controlled going in and out of the country.
These sorts of measures which would be transitional measures in the transition to a socialist planned economy with a society based on everybody’s needs not just the needs of a few very very rich people who can employ the best accountants to get around any laws that may or may not stand in their way.
So next time you are told the cuts are nessesary just ask them to take a watch of tonights episode of panorama and tell them there is the money out there if it was taxed and collected properly.

overtime, the quiet plan for profits for the boss's
Overtime is a idea which has become far more popular than ever. Some companies i know will have made staff redundant yet still get their existing staff to do overtime. Its maddness i tell you. But not as far as the capitalists are concerned. They rely on our surplus wage value to make their profits and overtime is no different. It is a way of adding value to a workers labour and getting away with paying them less than they should be. As Marx explained most workers who work a 8 hour day will have earned their wages within 4 hours. The rest of that is what the capitalist gets. Not only the profit from the product or service produced but also the wages that the worker does not get. There is a constant battle for that surplus value to be increased and this can come in the form of overtime, threats to work harder or incentives to work harder and faster.
But overtime which i'm focusing on here is something which has come to light in a recent TUC survey and research. I must say one of the better things teh TUC do some good solid sound research into the labour market and workers conditions. Its what they do next or not do i have the issue with. But there we go but in terms of overtime it has been found Last year workers gave bosses 2bn hrs of unpaid overtime-equivalent of 1m jobs-enough to eliminate youth unemployment in affect
This is staggering and not a mention of this by any of the major political capitalist parties. I wonder why ? maybe as they support this form of exploitation and gain by the rich ? But this sort of statistic when there is over 2.6 million people currently unemployed in Britain is a disgrace overtime shouldnt even being thought of when there are people desperate in many cases fora job at all.
The TUC says workers donated £29.2bn to economy thru 2bn hours unpaid overtime that is a huge amount. Where would those capitalists be without this sort of figure ? The fact that the boss's will use such tactics is further evidence that the ruling class will go to any lengths to get cheap labour power as a comodity as it is a comodity to keep their cost of production down to maximise their profits. Everything a capitalist does revolves around the motive for profit. I think we need to keep taht in mind when looking at the decisions the capitalists take and the polititians in westminster and Washington who support this rotten system.

what do we mean by democratic workers control
You may have seen me use this phrase many times on this blog when describing how the commanding heights of the economy should be run. But what do we mean by it when us socialists say this.
We mean that there will be no boss's any longer the day to day running of a organisation all of the top FTSE trading companies the most profitable companies will be taken into public ownership. Not semi nationalisation like Northern Rock was to avoid it going bust and the government taking over part of it.
But a full scale handing of the economy to the people. To be used not for individuals profits and personal gain. No not at all. No one person will gain out of this but we all will as a whole. The profits made by companies will not go to increasing the wealth of a select few individuals but to improving society as a whole.
This may be in the case of the railways any charge or funding gained by the railways will be plouded striaght back into upkeep of the railways and investing in new technology. Never will there be excessive profits for personal gain and high ticket prices again. There will be fair fairs to start with and a good standard of service too due to the fact that more money can be spent on our trainsport infrustructure due to more money being available to not just be going to some rich owner.
The life line for all this must be full democracy at al times. A right to recall any individual who is seen to not be being fair and taking advantage of others and the system will be able to be recalled by the people at any given time. The marxist planned economy and the ensurance that no elected representitive be that from a trade union or a leader in any sense at all will only ever recieve the wage of a average skilled worker. Meaning that no one will gain inflated wages and this would be one step towards preventing careerism and keeping peoples feet on teh ground to represent those they have been elected to do so.
Of course all this would just be the first phase to moving towards a class-less society where the need for money and the exchange of money will disappear. I will reinvestigate this next step towards full socialism. The higher phase of socialism aka commonism as described by Lenin at a later date.
But this society where the wealth is spread out equally amoungst all will be a revolutionary act and a start of a better all round society for the many not just the few. We all live on this great planet and its resources are being drained by capitalism but it doesnt have to be this way at all.
Many just feel that reforming capitalism will result in a social justice and fairness but this clearly shows a disregard to marx's aanalysis of capitalism and its contradictions that the boss's will always come back for more and to take back what they have given over as concessions to the workers this is a fact and has been proven to be their ways of doing things.
There is enough wealth and resources to go around for all if it is divided up equally. This is my vision of socialism and how i'd like to see things go in the future. Its the future i'm fighting for and hopefully others can join the fight with me too.
