Stand by for royal baby tidal wave

We are told we are moments away from the birth of the next royal in to Britain. Is this a time we should all celebrate and forget about our woes? No doubt the BBC, sky Channel 4 and the rest will have wall to wall coverage of this so called momentous occasion forgetting this is a regular every day event for many women and families around the world. The birth of another royal who the tax payer will no doubt fund does not cheer me up or do much to ease my growing anger at the rich. As millions in Britain and around the world struggle by with an estimated half a million last year using food banks do forgive me if I don’t jump out of my seat with my Union flag waving it profusely. I struggle to muster up any support for the royal family considering none of them have ever had to toil in their lives swanning about from country to country from royal engagement to another being a so called British ambassador like we are in desperate need of one of them. I will be thinking of the many struggling families with new born babies this week who will be wondering where the next meal is coming from and when they may next get work or if they can’t find a job if their benefits will be stopped. I am not a monarchist if you can’t tell already I’d be for a republic if only because it would be a step towards socialism and a true democracy which we are as far from today as ever it sometimes feels. Having a royal baby born live on your TV screens does nothing for me and I’m sure millions and millions will join me in sighing hugely at the absurdity of it all. Where is the real news you may ask What a good day to bury some bad news for the Tories. Now what was that about Lynton Crosby again?

The shameful treatment of RAF pilots being sacked by email

Our fine service men and women do deserve a lot better than this i feel.
This i find quite shocking and verhy slap dash approach to saving money in the defences. I feel as a organisation that has always held itself in high esteem and upholds a traditional and long standing way of doing things.

For the RAF to be quick, rash and uncareful about these redundancies smacks of a bit of panic a little like a fire sale. This article below doesnt say if it was a decision they had to come to quickly therefore a rushed move.

I do think questions need to be asked here if this was the right move and if this could have been carried out in a more respectful manner. Of course i always take waht the Sun has to say but if it is true some pilots were sent these emails while in duty in Iraq. I wouldnt be so sure this is true. Its probably just another sensational sun story but the actual story is quite disapointing way to treat our own men and women on the front line in battle for their country. Wherever you agree with them being there in the first place or not, there is a way to treat people.

Here is the news article if your interested.

the Ministry of Defence and the Army have apologised for "causing distress" after 38 soldiers - including one serving in Afghanistan - were sacked by email.
News of the blunder comes a day after it was revealed a quarter of the RAF's trainee pilots will not get a job in the service due to Government spending cuts.

The warrant officers who were dismissed by email were told it was because the Army also needed to make savings.

The message to the men read: "I write to notify you that with regret, I must issue you with 12 months' Notice of Termination.

"As I'm sure you are aware the Army has to make significant cutbacks and we... are expected to play our part in reductions."

The 38 warrant officers - the highest non-commissioned rank - all have at least 20 years' service and continue in the Army on a rolling contract.

However, The Sun claimed one of the veteran soldiers received the bad news while on the front line in Afghanistan.

An Army spokesperson said: "We apologise for the distress that this will have caused.

All the men have at least 20 years' service with the British Army

"Commanding officers have now spoken the soldiers concerned to ensure that they receive all necessary advice and support."

The MoD has been quick to point out this was not a mistake on the part of civil servants or ministers - but a mistake in terms of sequencing made by the Army.

Police tactics to be investigated

Breaking news from bbc london news today
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/brain-op-for-student-hit-by-truncheon-2156207.html
and the independant suggests the police watchdog is opening up a investigation into how a 20 year old student protester yesterday ended up with bleeding on the brain and potential brain damage due to police heavy handed tactics. I've blogged about this before and i'm glad to see something is getting investigated. After the disgrace that was the ian tomlinson incident at the G 20 protests where the guy actually died thank god these brutal attacks on protesters are being flagged up and highlighted. I'm not anti police but i just want fair justice for all. THe media has solely focused on how the police got hurt and flags and trees were rippd down but this just takes you back when you hear of a student gaining brain damage due to a police tronchun over the head. I dont know the background of course and if the student was being rowdy but this just leaves a bit of a sour taste in teh mouth when you know there is history there with how the police treat protesters.

Hope the guy concerned recovers fully, thoughts are with hima nd his family.

The royal wedding under a dark cloud of gloom

So we learn today that Prince William and his long term girlfriend Kate Middleton are getting married next year. How inappropriate seeing as next year is when the spending cuts will be biting at most. How dare David cameron claim this is a cause for national celebration. Does the man not live in the real world ?
most ordinary working people are living in permenent worry of not knowing if their job is going next year and if they will be a ble to afford their mortgage repayments. They are also finding life tough with child benifit being cut .

So in the face of all this our good old royal family choose next year as their back drop to celebrate by splashing some of our own cash.

Why should tax payers have to pay anything towards their wedding. They are just human beings, just happen to be born into a rich family so waht ?

I dont think people would be half as bothered about this if we werent al feeling the pinch from the spending cuts from the coalition gov.

On another note how dare David cameron even think in the first place it is acceptable to put his own "vanity project" photographer on the public civil service payroll. He has now retracted this move but what gave him the idea in the first place that using public money was a wise idea in this current financial climate ?

sometimes i just think he loves to lord it up in front of us to rub it in what he and his nasty party are doing to the country and the less well off.

All in all this is not good news and the condems idea to bury bad news will not go unoticed by myself and others in opposition to the government.

Lets just hope we get a day off for this anyway

THis blog post will probably get a award for grumpiest of the year but these sorts of things get under my skin
